What are the courses and competitive exams after graduation

Many students now a days opt for higher education after graduation with an intent to get further promotions, improve educational qualification or even just to keep the time ticking in due course of job search.

On the other hand, some courses need further education after graduation for batter skill and also competitive advantage in the career.

These courses include medicine, pharmacy, basic sciences like physics, maths, chemistry, biological sciences, management etc.

So below we see courses to perceive for individual graduation streams.

For medicine i.e. MBBS graduates a PG course is prerequisite. And the options include

General medicine subjects : MD General Medicine, MD Physiology, MD pharmacology, MD medical biochemistry etc.

Specializations with surgery: MS General Surgery, MS Ophthalmology,

MS Orthopaedics, MS ENT, MD Obst & Gynaec,

M.Ch Paediatric Surgery, M Ch. Plastic Surgery, M Ch. Thoracic Surgery,

For alternative medicine streams like

Homeopathy: After graduation in homeopathy one can opt for

MHMS Master of Homeopathic Medical sciences: After BHMS.

For Basic sciences.

Basic sciences is one of the toughest as there few options of job after graduation. But one can readily go for research based courses.

Bachelors in engineering gives a specific direction in career. But those interested in academics and research opt for higher education. For them the options are like direct PhD after graduation. But for eligibility for academics, one may need a PG, like masters of technology or master of engineering.

Master of Technology or M.Tech in (Civil), Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Telecommunication, Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Nuclear Engineering, Mining Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Agriculture Engineering, Master in Architecture.

For Allied health sciences:

Veterinary health: MVSc- Master in Veterinary sciences for those with graduation in veterinary health sciences.

Master of Pharmacy or M.Pharm: Those with bachelor in pharmacy can perceive Masters in pharmacology, pharmaceutics, pharmacognosy, medicinal chemistry, Quality Assurance, Pharmaceutical analysis, Pharmacoinformatics, pharma MBA.

Further Doctoral degrees i.e. PhD is another option immediately after M.Tech.

For art and commerce

Post graduation in event management: This is a course gaining rapid demand due to high job opportunities.

Even B.Ed, BA LLB are some of the courses to perceive immediately after graduation to go into profession.

Entrance exams for all the courses after graduation are conducted at national levels, state levels, individual university levels.

The competitive exams for aspirants of higher education after graduation are conducted both national level and also at individual state levels.

National level tests after graduation: These tests are limited to few courses on all india level basis like

Graduated Aptitude Test of Engineering (GATE) for B.E or B.Tech graduates with an intention to encourage Masters in technology education with monthly scholarships.

Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) for graduates in pharmacy to perceive M.Pharm courses with MHRD scholarships.

Common Admission Test (CAT) is an all India exam for MBA aspirants which provides admission into IIM' S and other B-Schools.

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is an national level law exam for admission into graduation and Post-graduation courses in law conducted by national law universities.

For others you may need to appear for individual state or university conducted exams for admission into respective state or University institutes for higher study. They are

For medical stream especially MBBS graduates the exams by AIIMS and PGI Chandigarh are most opted for.

GATE also provides option for M.Sc graduates to opt for M.Tech courses through clearance of GATE.

For M.Sc graduates NET exam for entrance into PhD after M.Sc with JRF fellowship.

Individual States and universities hold separate entrance or interviews for admissions into PG in medicine, M.Pharm, MCA, law, M.Sc, MBA and other exams.

Competitive exams irrespective of stream of graduation

Irrespective of any stream or subject of graduation, there are certain exams to get into job. These exams just demand a qualification in any stream of graduation and they include exams by UPSC (Union Public Service commission), Individual state related public service exams, bank recruitment, railways, postal department, transport and few social welfare related institutes.

The exams under public service diversify as administrative, security (police), revenue, development, social welfare, clerical, taxation related jobs again at different positions, like a district, division, (block or mandal), village. For instance, collector (district magistrate), Divisional magistrate (R.D.O-Revenue divisional officer), tehshildar or M.R.O (block or mandal level), village revenue assistant etc.
